Volunteering

For many people, volunteering is a lifeline, giving companionship, confidence and the chance to learn new skills and gain vital work experience. For others, it is an opportunity to give something back to their community.

Everything at St Vincent’s, from counselling to bucket collections, would not be possible without the help of volunteers. We offer a wide range of volunteering opportunities at the Support Centre.

St Vincent’s has a supported volunteering programme, helping people with additional needs to make a difference in the community while working in a safe and friendly environment. We look at each person as an individual to match them to the volunteer role that’s right for them.

Volunteers meet and socialise with other people, improve their spoken English, build confidence and make lasting friendships.

Day trips, evenings out and an annual volunteer holiday ensure that isolated and vulnerable volunteers have the opportunity to take a break away, make friends and socialise in a safe environment. For many of our volunteers, these trips are a highlight of their year. Our annual volunteer awards ceremony recognises and celebrates the contributions St Vincent’s volunteers make every day.

Many people volunteer to improve their chances of finding employment; we have a volunteer training programme, offer on the job training and courses to gain experience and build a strong CV.

Have a look at some of our example volunteer job descriptions below. If you would like to learn more or get involved, call Victoria Prout, Volunteer Co-ordinator on 0113 248 4126.
